About Tri-Valley Explorers

We're glad you're interested in the Tri-Valley Explorers!

TVE is an inclusive support group for families who homeschool or are considering homeschooling. We welcome ALL families regardless of homeschooling method, lifestyle or belief. Most of our members live in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Our members are encouraged to organize park days, co-ops, events, classes, field trips, etc. Past and current events have included:

  • Speech club
  • Drama club
  • Reading club
  • Book club
  • Soccer (very informal)
  • Destination Imagination club
  • park days in various cities (Danville, Livermore, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Walnut Creek, Moraga, Pleasanton, San Ramon) - current park days are held in Livermore, Pleasant Hill, and Danville
  • Story of the World co-ops
  • Monopoly club
  • Games club
  • Magic club
  • Bowling league
  • Scouts

We also have a Teen Group which meets periodically for movie nights, game nights, ice skating, pizza, and various other teen activities.

Our group meets in person and on our Yahoo!Group email list. Our email list supports homeschooling families by offering a forum for asking questions, sharing thoughts and ideas, resources and events. We embrace the belief that life is learning and learning is life, so we do not limit our discussions to homeschool education.

Our membership is as diverse as the Bay Area we live in. Our members practice various homeschool methods, lifestyles, religious and political beliefs. We strive to make our email list a safe, comfortable place to share ideas, opinions, feedback, etc.

    What TVE Is Not

  • TVE does not serve public or private school families looking for enrichment classes. Our events usually take place during the traditional school day.
  • TVE does not welcome teachers (ISP or charter) as members of our group. We feel this would not allow for free discussion among our members.
  • TVE does not allow outside commercial advertisements to be posted to our email list. Our list is commercial free. We do allow our members to post advertisements on the weekend.
  • TVE is not an Independent Study Program.
  • TVE does not provide curriculum.
  • TVE does not collect dues.

Finally, we ask each TVE member to do one thing for TVE each year. This could be organizing a field trip, a class, or some other event. Or it could be helping someone organize an event, or organizing a game for our annual Not-Back-To-School potluck picnic. With every member contributing once a year to TVE, we will have a rich banquet of activities to choose from.

Now that you have learned more about TVE, we'd love to learn more about you. Click here to join our Yahoo!Group. We'd like to briefly chat with you, so please be prepared to share:
    - your name
    - your city of residence
    - your phone number
    - the age range(s) of your child(ren).

In the meantime, we would be happy to answer any questions you may have about homeschooling or about TVE. Please feel free to contact us at info@trivalleyexplorers.org.
